The Inca Horse - The Llama

A Llama

As you may know, the horse was introduced to the "new world" by the Spanish.  The Incas had their own type of "horse" called the llama.  The llama was very suited for the type of climate and land where the Incas lived.  They are very calm and can carry heavy loads. They also provide wool for blankets and clothing.  Unlike horses you cannot ride them and they cannot pull a wagon.  Llamas come in different colors and they are related to the camel.
