Spanish verbs are classified into three conjugations, according to the final two letters of the verb.

1st Conjugation Verbs - "AR" Verbs

Verbs that end in "ar" are 1st conjugation verbs.

trabajar, cantar, mirar, hablar

About 90% of all Spanish verbs end in "ar"

2nd Conjugation Verbs - "ER" Verbs

Verbs that end in "er" are 2nd conjugation verbs.

aprender, beber, comer, leer

3rd Conjugation Verbs - "IR" Verbs

Verbs that end in "ir" are 3rd conjugation verbs

abrir, cubrir, escribir, recibir
